The below status used are for your Deliverables, and Status Questions.

The status of your Deliverables will be relevant depending on:

  • you've started your activities,
  • you are undergoing your activities or
  • you have completed your activities

Definitions

Not Started: (you're not under way yet)

  • This status applies to deliverables that have not started tracking progress yet, usually because no meaningful work has begun yet.

In progress: (you're off the starting line)

  • Work has begun on the deliverable, but it is not yet completed.

On track: (you're in the race and everything is going according to plan)

  • This status indicates that a deliverable is progressing as planned and is expected to be completed by its assigned deadline within the overall strategy timeline.
  • All key milestones, dependencies, and performance indicators are being met without significant risks or delays.
  • If the completion date has passed with more to progress, the deliverable would no longer be considered "On Track" and would shift to Ongoing.

Action required: (you've hit a sng that needs attention)

  • The deliverable is at risk of missing its deadline or has encountered roadblocks requiring intervention.
  • Additional effort, decision-making, or resource allocation is needed to get back on track.
  • If left unresolved, it may transition to "Not Achieved" or "Partially Met."

Ongoing: (the race is over but we still have a few laps before we cross the line)

  • This status indicates that the deliverable was expected to be completed by a certain date but remains in progress beyond that point. It is essentially for overdue deliverables that still require an outcome. This is not about things (e.g. employment or procurement) that your business will continue doing - its about what was to be achieved throughout the lifetime of the Strategy.
  • It acknowledges that work is continuing and still aligns with the broader strategy completion deadline.
  • This is useful when a deliverable requires further action, refinement, or follow-up beyond its original due date.

Partially Met: (we did some things well but much room for improvement)

  • The deliverable was completed to some extent, but not in full alignment with the original objectives.
  • Some outcomes were achieved, but gaps remain that could require further action or refinement.
  • This may lead to a follow-up action or a new deliverable to address outstanding issues.

Achieved: (you did it!)

  • The deliverable has been fully completed and meets all objectives and success criteria.
  • No further work is required unless it transitions into an ongoing initiative or a new phase.

Not Achieved: (lets get back to the drawing board)

  • The deliverable has not been completed by the final deadline and will not continue further.
  • This may be due to shifting priorities, resource constraints, or unresolved challenges.
  • A post-mortem review or lessons-learned process may be conducted to assess the reasons for non-completion.
